On Oct. 28, 2025, the Burnet County Commissioners Court unanimously passed a resolution opposing the state-backed Bell County East to Big Hill 765-kV transmission line, which developers say is needed to serve rising West Texas power demand from crypto mining, data centers and other large industrial loads. The resolution asked the PUCT, LCRA and Oncor to reconsider the route and delay the project until county concerns were addressed.
